| | The Stray Cat Sunlight fragments Upon broken glass, Tarmac heats The soles of passer-bys.
Alongside a graffiti-stained wall, She plays slowly With a lank clump of hair, Pawing as it sways To and fro, To and fro In front of her.
Her feet move Restlessly in outlines Of the Bear Star, the Sun Sign and UFOs -- Signs only she knows Behind the creases of her eyes. Her can clanks. She bobs Her head, moving side to side to the honking of the cars; Her mud-colour coat Swallowing its body.
And then, the stringy hair returns as a funny swing; To and fro, To and fro, To and fro. |
